What will we talk about?
The Focus of the January meeting is "The New Year Ahead" Volunteering and Young People
The Southwark Volunteering Strategy (2017 – 2020) (Currently being updated) brings together the council, voluntary sector and key partners to explore how we can, together, create a stronger culture of volunteering in the borough.
Our main theme until 2020 is Young people and how as organisations we can create volunteering opportunities for young people that are suitable and safe.
We will also break down the barrier around recruiting young people particularly 16 - 18 year olds.
Please have a think about the following questions and we will discuss during the session
1. Do you have any 16 - 18 year old volunteers and if so, what is their role and how many?
2. What are the reasons (if you don't) why your organisation does not recruit 16 - 18 year olds?
3. What benefits would it bring to your organisation to recruit young people?
4. What benefits do you think volunteering brings to young people?
There will also be time to network with other volunteering managers, hear local sector news and get Peer Support for any volunteering quandrys you might have.
